FAQ's

As a rule of thumb, the bottom of the kitchen island pendant light should sit between 75cm and 90cm above the countertop. This height provides optimal illumination for meal prep and dining while keeping the fixtures clear of your line of sight.

Most kitchen islands take two or three pendants, but it depends on the island's length. Space pendants roughly 60cm to 75cm apart, leaving at least 30cm of clearance from the outer edges of the island to keep the layout visually balanced.

The diameter or width of an individual pendant should be no bigger than half of the width (depth) of the benchtop. For a standard 90cm wide bench, choose pendants with a maximum diameter or width of 45cm.

A linear pendant light features a single, elongated horizontal fixture suspended from the ceiling by cords or rigid rods. It is an excellent choice for modern kitchen islands because it offers continuous, even light across the entire countertop surface, eliminating shadows and replacing the need for multiple individual pendant fixtures.

For a kitchen island, choose downward-facing pendant lights with open bottoms or clear glass shades. These provide direct task lighting onto the countertop for food preparation. Upward-facing pendants create ambient, indirect light, which is less ideal for functional workspace illumination.
